Paris Watercolor

Yea! I finally broke down and bought an original watercolor from one of my favorite bloggers/artists:  Paris Breakfasts.
It is a beautiful blog that I've mentioned before.  Carole Gillott takes you right into Paris streets and patisseries... it is like one can travel to Paris just by reading her blog!  And she just returned from Paris which  adds more inspiration for all things French!

With this watercolor, there is a story behind it, just like there is for many paintings.  The scene she painted is of the patisserie in Paris called Delmontel.   I love the colors in this painting and how there are bikes in front and some mopeds  too!  Oh, this painting makes me so happy!

The real Delmontel

Yummy patisseries from Delmontel.
And someday I'll visit this fun Frenchie pure Paris place!

Carol even sent a beautiful thank you note!

Here is another watercolor of a paper store.

Must visit this place on my future trip to Paris!

Watercolors and Paris

I've been loving this blog,,and it has all things Paris!  Carol Gillott paints these beautiful watercolors but they are not just ordinary watercolor paintings. They are from her own experiences in Parisian cafes either in Paris or her home in New York City. I just love it every time I visit her dreamy blog and see what she is up to with taking photos of her coffee time and the store windows of Paris and New York... pure inspiration!

I am making a little list of places to visit..... one will be Angelina's. Can't wait to have real hot chocolate with that big puff of cream on the side! French.... they just know how to make ordinary things extraordinary!
Love this....must visit Demel in NYC...

A tree of love!
The real thing.

And this artist, Carol Gillott, also collects tiny teapots and tea cups!

7MINI+CUPS Miniature land of coffee, hot chocolate and tea... wonderful!

Dreaming of Paris...

These are the days to dream.... and so I will and I'll journey down the streets of Paris!  Have been loving this blog  It's all about Paris and design and color and fun!  The lady who writes the blog published the book, Paris Apartments.  She flies back and forth to Paris quite a bit... what a charmed life!

So with the January cold days ( today, it is cooollddd in Alabama!.... temps are going into the teens tonight!) I would love to sit in this warm cafe and drink some cafe au lait!
Oh, and eat some of the Laduree sweets!

Definitely am being inspired to paint some new things which may include sweets and coffee and some whimsy parts of Paris!

Love this photo! (Courtesy of S. Lo/

mix that all together and yep, that is happiness right there.

January provides that quiet time for wandering through fresh books, pictures, paintings and blogs.... one can go from Birmingham to Flotte to Paris to Germany and then through New York and back to Birmingham in just a few minutes on the web of wonders.   Amazing how inspiration is really everywhere.  Seems the winter months create that space for dreaming, planning, sketching and making new ideas and projects.
Things are buzzing around in my head with some fresh ideas for painting. Love it when that happens.
